A part time course with a flexible modular structure, participants study at a pace that suits them over one to two years. No prior tax knowledge is required.
Who is it for?
Students will learn the fundamentals of tax in this practical and flexible course. It is ideal for people working in compliance roles including:
- Accounting Technicians Book-keepers Payroll administrators
- Public sector compliance personnel
- Other compliance personnel who encounter tax
What will I achieve through this qualification?
- An understanding of the practical operation of the Irish Tax system and tax rules
- The ability to calculate income tax, corporation tax, capital taxes, VAT and payroll tax liabilities with an emphasis on claiming any relevant reliefs and exemptions
- An awareness of the tax administration requirements for individuals and companies including completion of tax returns
This is an online modular programme, providing flexibility for students. Experienced lecturers work through the course materials allowing plenty of time for examples and real-life scenarios so as to to ensure students grasp the fundamentals across all tax heads.
How will I learn?
The course consists of 4 modules:
- Income Tax & Payroll Fundamentals
- Capital Taxes Fundamentals
- Corporation Tax Fundamentals
- VAT Fundamentals
Students can stagger their end of module exams.
How will I be assessed?
Students sit end of module examinations. Successful candidates qualify as tax technicians with competence in tax compliance across each tax head.
